About Us

Making the physics of light clear, rigorous, and genuinely useful.

Our Mission

At Physics Optics, we believe the behaviour of light is one of the most beautiful and useful subjects in all of science — and that it can be explained without hand-waving. Our mission is to be a clear, accurate reference for how light works: how it reflects, refracts, diffracts, interferes, and is harnessed by the instruments built around it.

Every article starts from first principles and builds up to the real-world application, with worked examples and original diagrams along the way. We write for students, teachers, and the simply curious.

What We Cover

  • Light fundamentals: What light is, its energy and properties, and the everyday devices that use it.
  • Reflection & refraction: Why light bends and bounces, Snell's law, mirrors, and total internal reflection.
  • Lenses & instruments: Convex and concave lenses, ray diagrams, microscopes, and telescopes.
  • Wave & quantum optics: Diffraction, interference, polarization, and the photon picture of light.
  • Applications: Lasers, fiber optics, rainbows, mirages, and the optics behind modern technology.

Commitment to Accuracy

Physics is a subject where details matter. Every article on Physics Optics is researched, checked, and written to give you information you can rely on. We avoid clickbait and filler, and focus on explanations that actually help you understand — and remember — how light behaves.
